What is Empowerment?
Empowerment is a social skills curriculum developed for use with students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities in St. Paul Public Schools.
It is an approach to people and behavior that is founded on the belief that each person has core value - a universal birthright meaning that every person is lovable, important, and valuable regardless of a their behavior or any other personal characteristics.

A Dispute in Sign Language
A Fable highlighting state of mind concepts. It specifically can be used to discuss how one situations can be interpreted dramatically differently but individuals. Discussion can also include weak mode and power mode. -
Bike and Car- State of Mind
Video of car-bike accident highlights that State of Mind (thoughts, feelings, behavior, outcome) is different for different individuals. Video highlights how the same event is interpreted differently. -
Lesson 22- State of Mind
Video is used to highlight concept of State of Mind. -
Lesson 23, State of Mind Part 2
"Crack Baby" video is used to continue teaching/discussing State of Mind. -
Cognitive Re-Framing Supplemental Lesson
Follow up lesson involving real life examples to continue the concept of Cognitive Reframing.
